Smart-1 Lunar Impact

If you didn't actually see the Lunar impact of the Smart-1 spacecraft, don't be too disappointed. Even without the cloud cover here in Berkeley, it wouldn't have been visible through any of my telescopes. As it turned out, you needed a 3.6 meter infrared scope to detect the miniscule flash. At least they predicted the impact time pretty accurately.

More images and data should pour in over the next couple of days as all the observatories upload whatever they caught. Stay tuned.
